North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park
It has been a marvelous day. The weather is perfect, the scenery stunning. We cannot think of enough adjectives to describe the beauty of the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. So we put together a Smilebox for you to enjoy. The pictures are great, but the real thing is awesome!
We left Jackson, WY around 9am and drove to the Grand Teton National Park and then into Yellowstone National Park. There was quite a diversion of traffic with road repairs, but we lucked out and didn’t have to wait very long. It was a bumpy, 25mph drive for awhile, but with scenery like that, who cares?
We stopped at the West Thumb Geyser Basin. That was really incredible. I loved the colors of the pools. The blue/green is “cooler” water; the orange/yellow water is hotter. The colors come from the microorganisms that live in the boiling hot water. There, that’s all the science I can muster. (Cause it deals with color!)
I’m not sure why everyone worries about seeing Old Faithful spout. It is written in the park information that it’s about every 90 minutes. Well, we drove up to the Old Faithful parking lot, drove around looking for a parking place to leave Bart. Walked over to Old Faithful and it went off! I guess it was waiting for us. We then had a nice lunch at the cafeteria and drove back through the park south/east then north as one section of the road was closed. Some people have all the luck! Enjoy the pictures of Old Faithful.
Closing pictures, North Yellowstone, grazing bison, neighborhood elk and reflections.
Love to you all…. Bob and Geneva
