We’ve had a full day! We went first thing this morning to Buffalo Bill Cody’s Museum. Several people in the last few days have said we must go see this museum. So we did.
It is quite large. We went through the section of Buffalo Bill’s life then we went through the gun section. The part about his life was very interesting. Good grief, I can’t imagine anyone keeping so much of my life’s paraphernalia. When we went through the gun section I kept thinking “I wish Andy and Mike were here.” I’ve never seen so many guns and dead animals hanging on the wall. Did you know that Caribou have this piece of their antler that comes down across their nose? It makes it really hard to have dual vision, or whatever that is called. Try it. Put your hand up along your nose and see what your eyes do. Weird, huh? So enough testosterone, on to the quilt show.
We couldn’t find the quilt show! We followed the signs; even put the address into Bart. He said we were there. I started to back out of the parking space and I said to Bob, “Are we looking for the Cody Auditorium?” He said “Yeah”. I said, “It’s in the rearview mirror.”
Note to self. Sometimes you are already where you need to be. So we went in and had a great time looking at all the quilts. Estrogen fulfilled, we left. Now we are both full of testosterone and estrogen and are even. Sigh…
We left Cody, WY around 11:30am. I drove the first 3 hours. We were on Hwy 16 east and went through Emblem, Greybull, Basin, Worland (where we had a nice picnic at a lovely park), Tensleep and then through Big Horn National Forest. Yikes! That was quite a drive! Bart and I passed many a motor home and slow car. The scenery was bizarre and beautiful.
It rained. Yup, I haven’t seen rain since last March and it was a welcome sight except for the curves.
We arrived in Buffalo, WY to find road construction (and an unusual sign see below) the quickie mart, Kum and Go and the liquor store Crazy Women Liquors. By this time I was the crazy women, but alas, had no liquors.
Bob took the wheel at Buffalo, WY and drove I-90 to Rapid City, South Dakota. It was 75 mph and we arrived, very tired and bottom sore at 6pm. Bob counted the orange cones and found that there were 80 orange cones per mile at 10-12 miles. We skirted the big storm and only had a little rain. Eastern Wyoming and Western South Dakota are so beautiful. Rolling hills, lots of space.
When I remember Sacramento and So Cal, with all those people crammed together I think “everyone could have their own ½ acre plot with no problem”…. Oh well. Stop trying to fix the world.
We are off to see the Bad Lands and Mount Rushmore tomorrow.
Hope you are all well and happy, we are. bc and gc.
“Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Let me wander over yonder till I see the mountains rise
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
Gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
Don’t fence me in.”
