HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!!! We love you and miss you.
We left Shreveport yesterday morning in a rain storm. The drive to Irving, TX (which is near Dallas) is about 3 ½ hours. We thought we’d have an easy day of it. Nope!
The rain was torrential. I drove for the first 90 minutes and it was horrible! The rain came down in sheets, cars were skidding off the freeway, huge waves of water from passing cars and semis making it impossible to see out the windshield. I was exhausted.
When we got to Tyler, TX I pulled off to a large store/Shell station. I got out of Bart and I was literally shaking. My hands ached from gripping the steering wheel and I felt like crying! Yikes! Too much tension. The shop was a huge place, very nice, selling everything Texas. BC bought some bison jerky.
Bc started to drive and it wasn’t much better. The trip took not the estimated 3 hours but 5 hours and we were stopped several times due to the 5 major accidents! That doesn’t count the many spun out cars on the side of the road stuck in the mud.
We are here at the Four Seasons and it is very nice. We rested in the afternoon after our crazy drive and then met our friends Bill and Anita Conley for dinner. It was so nice to catch up with them. Anita and I laughed and solved all the worlds’ problems, just like old times.
There was a fiancĂ©e of a very famous person sitting at the table next to us at dinner. He wasn’t with his very famous fiancĂ©. We won't mention any names but "O", "O", could this be? Hmmmm….
Today it is cloudy but no rain so far. We are relaxing in our lovely room with room service. A nice treat. Later today we will go to Austin to see our friends Diane and Randy Miller. I went to junior and senior high with them.
Oh! I forgot to mention in the last blog that when we were at Joe’s Crab Shack, a young couple dressed up for Homecoming came into the restaurant. The girl was wearing a satin green camouflage dress lined with bright orange satin! It was quite a dress! The front was shorter than the back and it dipped all around showing off the orange satin lining. I love fabric and color and my needle is tipped to that young woman. You go girl!
We are starting our 5th week on the road. Over 5500 miles.
Hope all is well with you! Love, bc and gc
